Katie's regular ed class had an "Author's Tea" on Thursday afternoon. Parents were invited to attend, and the kids read books that they had written and illustrated themselves. Katie did such a good job reading her book! She signed it, and a girl from her Circle of Friends narrated. Katie's special ed interventionist said she had practiced it for a couple of weeks now. No one knew how she would do when presenting it in front of a room full of people, though. She did great! Then she sat through all of the other kids' readings, which is remarkable too! Way to go, Katie--we're so proud of you!
Here's a video of her presentation. Turn the volume on your speakers all the way up, because it's hard to hear the little girl who is narrating.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go, Katie!
I am so proud and impressed, Leslie! Big tears in my eyes watching the video... reading and signing in front of all those people and then sitting for everyone else's readings. Impressive!!! :-)
Oh Leslie, this makes my heart soar! Look at your Katie go! I loved seeing her in action. Love.
OMG!! That is AMAZING!!
I cry whenever I see Amélie sign at school...just like Katie it reminds me of how amazing our children are at learning to communicate through all their difficulties.
Katie's sign was fantastic and fluent were not there yet, but working on it!!
Glad youve got ENT referral, I agree the pain threshold is strong and so we often only know Amélie is poorly when she is at her worst...I often feel like the doctors must think why have you presented so late in her condition but the early normal signs are never there...so difficult to predict!!!!
And Leslie its strange how we all worry so much about 'advocacy and the future' every mother and father must feel this so strongly !!!!
Love Les xx
