Can you believe it's already time for Katie to go back to school? She actually started part-time this week! She is going Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 90 minutes each day, this week and next week to get used to her new school and classroom.
We were a little nervous about how she'd do in a new school--but so far, so good! She seemed a little confused when we got to the school the first day and got out of the van. But then her interpreter, Ms. Wanda, walked out of the building, and Katie's face immediately lit up. She grabbed Wanda's hand, and off they went! I peeked in the classroom at them a few minutes later, and Katie was just staring at Wanda's hands, mesmerized by her signing. It was like she was thinking, "Finally! Someone who really knows how to speak my language again!"
Today was the last day of summer camp for Katie, too. She really did well there all summer. We are so grateful to have such a great camp in our area. I'm not sure what Katie would have done all summer without it!
Katie will start school full-time on August 23rd. Lots to do before then--get some new shoes, buy school supplies, prepare materials for a meeting with Katie's educational team, etc. Let's hope it's another good year for her!

I cannot believe it's back to school time! Good luck!!!! I cant wait to hear how this year starts off for Katie!! Sounds like she is doing well with her warm up period!
Sounds like you've had a nice relaxing summer! Katie's camp sound super fun! I need to see if there's something like that around here for Alice.
Hi Katie, I love your penguin shirt, penguins are my favorite thing! Cheyenne started school this week too & she loves it! You will have a great school year with lots of fun adventures, I just know it! Hugs! :-)

So glad that you were so happy to see Ms. Wanda... hopefully having her present has helped ease the transition. I am excited to hear how things have gone and especially excited to hear how it goes once you start full-time next week.
