Annual Endo Visit

Katie had her annual check-up with endocrinology yesterday. Her growth continues to improve every year. She has grown 2 inches taller since her visit last February (although I can't remember her exact height now!). And hang onto your hats on this one...she has gained 11 pounds!!! Last February, she weighed 49.5 pounds. Now she weighs 59.5 pounds. No wonder I can't lift her anymore!

The endocrinologist said her growth continues to be very good, especially for a child with CHARGE. She is starting to catch up on the height and especially on the weight charts. They took an x-ray of her hand yesterday to determine her bone age, since we haven't had that checked in a couple of years, but we haven't received the results of that yet.

The endo said everything looked great--we'll just need to monitor that Katie doesn't continue to gain 11 pounds every year with only a 2-inch gain in height, though, or else we're going to have a problem with being overweight instead of underweight. We may have to put a limit on those McDonald's french fries, Miss Katie!

Lots of other news to share about Katie too, related to her Medicaid waiver, school progress, upcoming school and medical evaluations, etc., but I am really busy with work right now and just haven't had time to post on the blog as much as I'd like. I'll try to write some posts over the next week or two and get everyone caught back up with the latest Katie news!
